In the word of Pumba, “you’ve got to put your behind in the Past”

April 2nd, 2008

Awe the Lion King what a majestic movie.  Timon and Pumbaa are talking…and puma says something almost right….you have got to put your past behind you which is the jist of what he is trying to say….oh course he says put you behind in the past which makes it so funny.

Its an amazing thing how our past sometimes control us.   For instance Pastor Wright who is Obamas pastor seems to be stuck in an time wharp.  He is lashing out at “white americans” from stuff in his past.  He also takes on the sins of past generations of abuse and appears to make them his as well.  Its an amazing thing.  His past is controlling his future and has stained the way he sees things.  Read the rest of this entry »

Storms start when the day looks like any other day

February 11th, 2008

It was a normal day.  I had just come back from voting.  The family was having a pretty good time running around the house.  I had been home only for a few minutes when the sirens started.   The wind started to pick up.  The sky turned a weird greenish color when all the sudden it had a weird type lightning hit.  Most of the kids were already in the bathroom area.  My son Jero and I were outside watching the storm clouds form.  When the lightning did its weird thing,  we watched it form from the ground up a funnel cloud.  This was the real deal.  Jero screams its a tornado daddy…oh my Gosh.  Read the rest of this entry »

Retooling The Way We Think

January 16th, 2008

Mark 1:14 Jesus went into Galilee and proclaimed the good news of God the time has come he said the Kingdom of God is near; Repent and believe the good news.

The word repent is a word i have heard alot since coming to church. I always thought it meant to turn away from what you are doing. However the word in Mark 1:14 that says repent is a greek word meta noia …meta which means change and noia which means mind. It makes sense in the story of the prodigal son now since in Luke 15:17 it says “When he came to his senses, he said, how many of my fathers hired men have food to spare and here i am starving to death.” Read the rest of this entry »

Many have messed up their lives with drugs, crack, heroin, crystal meth, alcohol, porno, broken marriages, divorce, wayward children, you name it. Many people in my church feel totally devoid of any value in any church. Matt 12:20 says” a bruised reed He will not break off and a smoldering wick He will not snuff out or quench”. Restoring the years the locust destroyed

January 7th, 2008

The thief comes to steal, kill and destroy it says in John 10:10 How true how true so many times the thief robs us of our joy, peace and happiness. The enemy sneaks in to devour our relationships, our families, our churches. In many cases our own issues cause many of these problems because its hard to distinquish between the two…the enemy or our own desires and wishes. One key in determining the difference is based on being a servant and being a king. A king wants to be served a servant wants only to serve. Read the rest of this entry »
